first_imgThe administrator of the only Government Referral hospital in Robertsport, Grand Cape Mount County,, Aaron B. Massaley, is calling on the government and other partners to help provide an ambulance and other medical supplies for the hospital.Speaking to newsmen last Wednesday at the Ministry of Health and Social Welfare office in Sinje, Grand Cape Mount County, Mr. Massaley  said the St. Timothy hospital has been without an ambulance for the past three years, and this had created serious problems  for the center.According to him, the hospital cannot run effectively without an  ambulance, especially with the national health crisis currently facing the country. “Any critical case that the hospital cannot handle would create a serious problem, leading even to death.“If we have a case that needs quick medical response in Monrovia, the hospital cannot provide the service for its people and that would amount to a failure on our part.”Mr. Massaley further disclosed that, the St. Timothy Government Hospital was currently out of basic supplies, including fuel and personal protective equipment (PPEs).  Moreover, the health workers are requesting risk benefits from the government. He explained that, “For some reason now, the  majority of health workers, such as nurses and physicians, have left the hospital and are demanding risk benefits and other emoluments before they can return. The hospital has run out of fuel and more than 70 percent of its staff have not been showing up for  work.”He also called on the lawmakers of the county and other concerned  citizens to help provide some services for the hospital, especially in the fight against the deadly Ebola virus.Mr. Massaley at the same time expressed thanks and appreciation to the government for its initial support, including personal protective equipment, adding that, “We need more to effectively cope with the Ebola crisis in the county.”Share this:Click to share on Twitter (Opens in new window)Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window)last_img
